An action group has been formed in Bonnyrigg as part of local efforts to protect the greenbelt area surrounding the town.
The Greenbelt Action Group (GAG) was founded by residents John Barton and George Barnes.
Its members are concerned that a loss of green space could see Bonnyrigg merge with neighbouring communities such as Eskbank.
With around 2,000 houses earmarked for the Bonnyrigg area over the next decade, they also fear that the town does not have the infrastructure to cope with the extra demands on the likes of schools and medical centres.
For more information about the group visit www.bonnyrigggag.co.uk.
