Calling all Midlothian foodies!

Dalkeith's Itihaas restaurant was the winner of last year's Best Customer Service award

Dalkeith's Itihaas restaurant was the winner of last year's Best Customer Service award

Are you a food lover and a stickler for good service in restaurants?

If so, and you live in Midlothian, you could be just the person organisers of this year’s food and drink awards are looking for.

They need a couple - or two friends - to go under-cover and pose as customers to check out the three short-listed finalists in the customer service category of the awards.

Coaching will be given and expenses covered - and the lucky pair will also be invited to attend the awards ceremony and dinner itself.

All you need to do is explain in up to 250 words what good service means to you and what you favourite meal is. Email this, with your full contact details, or send it to Gordon Hodgson c/o Midlothian Advertiser, 108 Holyrood Road, Edinburgh, EH8 8AS, by Wednesday, May 7. Gordon’s decision is final.

The Midlothian Food & Drink Awards, which are designed to recognise and celebrate excellence among food producers and caterers in Midlothian, are a partnership between the Midlothian Tourism Forum and Midlothian Council, supported by local businesses, including the Advertiser.

We’ll be revealing the short-listed finalists of all eight categories in our May 15 edition of the paper. Final judging will take place after that and the winners will be announced at the Midlothian Food & Drink Awards Ceremony & Dinner held at Newbattle Abbey on June 4.
