A woman has told how joining a choir has helped in her battle against cancer – and of her delight at getting to sing at the famous Abbey Road studios.

Retired nurse Ann Carruthers Grigor (53) from Newtongrange joined the Edinburgh Rocks choir in early 2013. They recently headed to the studios in London to record two songs.

She said: “It was fantastic. We were there for the weekend but recorded on the Saturday. We were told about the studio’s history, like the Beatles etc. To think we were sitting in the studio where all those people recorded. It was just astonishing.

“It was absolutely amazing. The whole buzz was just incredible.

“When we came outside for a photo shoot tourists asked us for our autographs!”

The Edinburgh Rocks Choir sing rock, gospel and pop songs, and last year they performed at the Edinburgh Festival.
