The consultation exercise on Midlothian Council’s proposed changes to primary school catchment areas in Penicuik closes this Friday.
Local views are being sought on five proposals, which could be implemented in August next year.
There could be catchment changes for Cuiken, Cornbank St James, Mauricewood and Glencorse Primaries.
The fifth proposal suggests that all pupils at Strathesk Primary would go on to Penicuik High School. At present children in the former Ladywood Primary catchment area go on to Beeslack Community High School. Beeslack parent and school board member Wendy Irvine is urging parents to oppose the Strathesk proposal and has called on the council to remove this suggestion from the table.
She said proposal five, which had serious implications for Beeslack, was “hidden” in a primary school consultation.
