Midlothian Council has admitted mistakes in a response to a Freedom of Information enquiry about community care alarms.
The Advertiser’s front page story last week reported the number of elderly and disabled people who had cancelled their homecare packages since controversial charges were brought in last year.
Previously free, the annual fee of £104 was introduced on April 1. The SNP insists the cost is low compared to some other local authorities.
Our report was based on figures supplied by the council in response to an FOI enquiry by Dalkeith Labour activist Kenny Young. After the Advertiser had gone to press on Tuesday, the council released amended figures.
