A £3.6 million redevelopment of Dalkeith’s historic Corn Exchange building is set to under way in just a few weeks’ time.
Melville Housing Association has confirmed that major works are planned for early next month.
As previously reported by the Advertiser, Melville was awarded a first round pass and development funding of £48,800 in June 2012 to carry out feasibility work, ahead of submitting a full grant application to Heritage Lottery Fund. Historic Scotland also awarded a Building Repair Grant of £83,864.
The reception area of Melville’s new office will be open to the public and have a permanent exhibition of the history of the building.
