Dalkeith is curry capital

It’s official – the best curry chef in Scotland is based in Dalkeith.

Matin Khan, who runs Itihaas restaurant, has beaten off competition from restaurants all over Scotland to be named Chef of the Year at the Scottish Curry Awards.

His son Habibur (pictured) picked up the award on his behalf at a gala dinner at the Thistle Hotel in Glasgow.

Matin said: “I am proud and honoured to have received this recognition, especially considering there are so many marvellous curry chefs around Scotland. It’s particularly pleasing to have helped place Midlothian even more firmly on the country’s culinary map.”
