Debt enquiries account for 31 per cent of the CAB's work

Penicuik’s Citizens Advice Bureau continues to be one of the busiest offices in the Lothians.

In 2012/13, the staff and volunteers in the John Street office dealt with 6,522 enquiries – the highest level in the Lothians.

Dalkeith CAB received 3,809 enquiries, Haddington 6,302 and the Edinburgh average was 4,978 for the same period.

As a result Penicuik CAB looked into 17,099 issues –with almost 31 per cent (5,272) relating to debt matters.

There were 164 new multiple debt clients in 2012/13 with £3.3 million worth of debt.
