Farm animals were rescued from a blazing barn when 100 tonnes of baled straw caught fire at a Dalkeith farm.
The incident at Langside Farm was ongoing at 4.20pm on Tuesday (March 4) as firefighters fought to contain the blaze.
A Fire Service spokesman said: “The animals were evacuated to safety, however there were concerns about an adjacent shed which contained fertiliser. We had to make sure that it didn’t come into contact with the fire.”
It is understood that Scottish Power assisted the Fire Service by isolating high voltage power cables at the farm.
Hose reel jets were used to fight the flames and a total of five appliances were in attendance.
