A Lothians MSP has voiced fears that Midlothian Council is struggling to deliver on the Scottish Government’s flagship policy on free childcare for disadvantaged two-year-olds.
Ministers announced in January that all two-year-olds from a workless home would be able to access up to 600 hours of childcare provision from August 1.
But that date was recently extended until October 31.
Lothian’s MSP Cameron Buchanan (Con) said: “The SNP rushed this policy out in January with much fanfare and now, eight months on, parents are still in the dark over availability and cost.”
