Official opening of Lasswade High School, Bonnyrigg by First Minister Alex Salmond.

Speaking exclusively to the Advertiser, First Minister Alex Salmond revealed how impressed he was with Lasswade Centre after he officialy opened it: “It’s fantastic, absolutely fantastic. It’s a huge boost for both the pupils and the community.

“Obviously, it’s not just facilities that make a school, but it helps give pupils opportunities and a great sense of purpose.

“And for the community, you can’t get facilities of this standard, so it’s fabulous.

“It’s important, we talk about a school being part of the community and it has to live up to that.

“I think BAM have done a great job and tying together the numbers of apprentices was great, and I’m sure we can do better with that.

“And Midlothian Council have been very progressive and that’s why they are first to build such a school.”
