Developers are pressing ahead with their plans to build the first phase of new housing on the outskirts of Loanhead.

Taylor Wimpey and Straiton Park Limited have lodged a planning application with Midlothian Council seeking consent for 115 houses, which will be a mix of two to five-bedroom family properties.

The development, with associated roads, car parking and landscaping, is to be constructed on land surrounded by Mayshade Road, Edgefield Industrial Estate and Ashgrove House.

Outlining the proposals to Loanhead and District Community Council, Simon Dormer, from Straiton Park, said the development was hand-in-hand with the construction of the new relief road to the industrial estate.

There are plans to develop Ashgrove House for housing as well as the field off Loanhead Road, opposite Straiton Retail Park.
