Gorebridge Primary School dinner lady Liz Gifford dished out her last servings to pupils last week as she retired after 25 years there.
Speaking on her last day, she said: “It’s been quite emotional. I will definitely miss the kids and all the laughs. I’ve been here a long time. I started as playground supervisor before moving into the dinner hall in 1999. So I have done my round.
“The girls in the kitchen are very nice, as are the teachers, everybody is nice.”
Liz (62), who has been married to joiner Allan for 38 years, said she is looking forward to retirement and spending more time with her granddaughter Emma-Rose.
