Two sisters who battled serious illness are planning to join today’s annual Teddy Toddle for the Sick Kids Friends Foundation (SKFF) .

Mum Jade Clark (24), of Vogrie Road in Gorebridge, will accompany her daughters Lexi and Mia to the much anticipated fundraising event to show her thanks for the wealth of services they have benefited from.

She said: “Both of our girls have received treatment at the Royal Hospital for Sick Children in Edinburgh. My youngest, Lexi, who is only one, is still waiting on a final diagnosis for her condition. She has slow development and struggles to walk, talk, hold things and even sleep.

“A few years ago, Mia, who is turning three shortly, nearly died on the bus. It took eight attempts to resuscitate her after she suffered from an acute life-threatening event. It was like she forgot to breathe, it was truly terrifying.”
