Gorebridge Primary School teacher Liz Anderson has retired after 18 years working in what she calls “one big happy family”.

Starting her career as a class teacher and ending it as a support for learning teacher, she has seen many changes in her time at Gorebridge, not least the new school building which opened in 2008.

Speaking on the final day of term, Mrs Anderson (62) told of the ethos of the school : “I have had a fantastic time at the school. It’s a great family here. Everyone is supportive, it’s just one big happy family.

“And the kids here are great too. I have just been getting lots of ‘I’ll miss you’ from the pupils. Teaching is all about being connected with your pupils and that definitely happens here.”
