A massive economic boost for Midlothian is predicted as plans are unveiled for a £40 million film and television studio near Loanhead.
Pentland Studios Limited has told Midlothian Council it intends to lodge a planning application for the 29-acres development on land between Loanhead, Straiton and Damhead.
The development could stretch from Pentland Park to Straiton Caravan Parks and west towards Old Pentland Cemetery forcing a realignment for the new A701.
Pentland Studios director Gordon Ash said: “Our vision is to create the most modern film studio in the UK, with the scale and facilities to attract film-makers from all over the world.”
