Pupils at Mauricewood Primary are taught in a “welcoming and caring” environment, according to its latest inspection report.

Education Scotland staff visited the Penicuik school, where the children were described as “happy, polite, settled and enjoy learning together”.

Satisfied with the overall quality of provision, the inspectors said staff were “highly committed” to improving their work in order to improve outcomes for the children.

Key strengths included the flexible approaches taken by staff to meet the range of social, emotional and learning needs of children, and the highly-motivated nursery children who were actively engaged in making decisions about their learning.
