Izzard drama shot in Dalkeith

With scenes shot on location in Dalkeith, Eddie Izzard drama Castles in the Sky is now available to watch on the BBC iPlayer.

It tells the story of the fight to invent Radar by Scotsman Robert Watson Watt (Izzard) and a team of unproven and unknown British scientists.

Principal of Newbattle Abbey College, Ann Southwood said: ‘In autumn 2013 the college welcomed actors and a film crew to the Newbattle Abbey Business Park for the filming.

“Several of the units were reinstated to their former World War II role as an Army Camp, to tell the previously untold story.

“The college campus was abuzz with activity and it was a privilege to be part of a story that conveys the genuine human drama - of determination and genius versus establishment prejudice.”
