Luke Mitchell is said to be “delighted” that forensic material discovered on the body of murdered Jodi Jones is to be re-tested for DNA.
The tests are being carried out at the request of both Mitchell’s legal team and the Scottish Criminal Case Review Commission (SCCRC).
According to his mother Corinne, the 24-year-old, who is serving his sentence in high-security Shotts Prison in Lanarkshire, is “delighted” that the SCCRC has ordered new tests.
She told the Advertiser: “We’re really pleased that the case is being examined but angry because this should have been done ten years ago.
“There are still samples of unidentified DNA and we are delighted that these are to be re-tested. Luke has been working on paperwork ahead of a meeting with the Commission on September 18.”
