Access to the new Loanhead relief road may not be fit for purpose, according to worried community leaders in the area.

Loanhead and District Community Council is urging Midlothian Council officials to look at the road before it opens to traffic.

Community councillor John Thomson questioned whether lorries would be able to turn into the road from the newly-constructed roundabout near McDonald’s.

“There is no way a lorry will be able to turn into that relief road. There is a traffic island in the middle of the junction,” he said.
