Budding Midlothian technologists exploded on the scientific scene with some creative ideas to improve the lives of local people.

Teams from Penicuik and Newbattle Community High Schools were set a series of tasks in the first ever Edinburgh Technopole Challenge.

The competition, which was launched last year, came to a dramatic close as the four finalists pitched their challenge solutions to a panel of judges as they competed to take home a prize worth £500 and the coveted Edinburgh Technopole Challenge trophy.

The winners on the day was the BigBangEffect team made up of Iain Anderson, Charlotte Walker and Ethan Robertson from Penicuik High School, with their project ‘Go on visit Midlothian’.
