Eighteen months ago Vicky Lyon could barely walk after damaging discs in her spine.

After an operation and intense physiotherapy, Vicky (39) is midway through a challenge to complete six marathons in a year.

The Lasswade High School support for learning teacher will complete her sporting adventure by taking part in the London Marathon next April.

Vicky is using the challenge to raise money for Spinal Research UK and has so far collected £1200 for this small charity. A ceilidh/disco will also be held in Bilston Miners’ Club on St Andrew’s Day, November 30.

The Roslin mum explained that at the end of 2012 she had slipped a disc in her back. “By January I couldn’t walk at all.
