The grounds of Mayfield School Campus are to be renovated thanks to a Big Lottery award of £93,000.

The grant will be used to enhance the community space surrounding the campus at Stone Avenue in Mayfield, which incorporates Mayfield Library, Primary School and Nursery, and St Luke’s Primary School. The project will upgrade the entrance and play areas, install new adventure play equipment and a large sand area.

Mayfield PS headteacher, Jo MacFarlane, said: “We’re absolutely delighted. Having done a lot of work already to evaluate how children use outdoor space, we know exactly how we can get the most out of every penny.

“The space will include scores of features that will make the play area a real adventure for not just our pupils but the whole community who will use it too.”
