A minister will take on a gruelling six-mile assault course to raise funds to turn his Mayfield church into a “hub” for the community.
The Reverend Sean Swindells (53), of Mayfield and Easthouses Parish Church will kick-start the £750,000 fund-raising effort by crawling through mud and avoiding barbed wire at the assault course in Port of Menteith on June 7.
He said: “I’m up for the challenge. I just hope I don’t lose my parishonel reputation by doing this assault course. Hopefully not!
“You have to be a wee bit tongue in cheek with these things. It’s for a good cause.
“I feel quite fit for my age. I have been going out running for a couple of months now, doing 10k runs.
“So I’m confident and quite looking forward to it. I think it will be a scream.”
