Pupils at Mayfield Primary School have been holding events recently to encourage bedtime reading.

The P1 pupils held an event as part of the Sleepy Stories project to encourage parents to read bedtime stories at home.

Last week parents joined pupils to help make models based on the Jumblebum monster from the Bookbug book.

Teacher Rachel Dryden said: “We used old clothes, PE equipment and things from our classrooms to make collages of our own monsters. Then we thought of a name for each one and talked about what it liked to eat … mostly children.”
