Council refuse collectors are doing the minimum they have to do in an ongoing dispute over pay and conditions in the county.
According to the union Unite, around 75 binmen are engaged in a lawful protest known as “work to contract”.
The council’s Labour Group understands some are refusing to handle wheeled bins that are even a fraction of an inch overfilled.
As reported in last week’s Advertiser, morale crashed when waste operatives at the council lost their annual market supplement of £1,371.
Employees also claim they are being made to work in poor conditions.
One binman, who did not wish to be identified, said: “The men are up in arms.”
