Bonnyrigg councillor Bob Constable has resigned as council leader.

In a letter to chief executive Kenneth Lawrie, councillor Constable said it was now time to “pass on the baton”.

He added: “I hope to remain part of the Administration but in a less demanding role.”

Councillor Constable, who was elected in May 2012, retired from teaching in 1999.
