Opposition parties have failed in a bid to scrap the council’s newsletter the Midlothian News.
In their respective budget proposals, both the Labour and Green parties called for the free-sheet – which is distributed across the county – to be axed, saving £35,000.
Labour further proposed that a review of the council’s Public Relations be carried out, with a target saving of 50 per cent (£163,294).
