Midlothian foodbank has thanked generous local people for donating nearly three and a half tonnes of food in the latest collection.

Shoppers at Tesco Hardengreen donated the equivalent of 8,162 meals to the charity over the last weekend in November to feed local people facing crisis.

Foodbank manager Janice Burns said: “We would like to say a big thank you to all those who gave their food or time for this collection. It is hard to describe the difference giving a foodbox makes to parents whose children would otherwise go to bed hungry, and it is people like you who make this possible, thank you.”

Run from Gorebridge Parish Church, the foodbank has been busy since it opened in July this year, providing food parcels across the county.
