Bonnyrigg Primary has pipped neighbouring schools Burnbrae and Lasswade in this year’s Dr Mary Noble Memorial Award.
A founding member of the Bonnyrigg and Lasswade Local History Society, Dr Noble grew up in Edinburgh and went on to become a mycologist of international standing.
After benefitting from a residue of her will, the society decided to remember her by running an annual competition among the Primary 5 classes of local schools. This year’s challenge was to research the theme of Local Industries of the Past.
Society member Herbert Dryden said: “All three entries were excellent, making it very hard for the judges to determine the winner.”
