Power cuts, damage to buildings and fallen trees contributed to the chaos caused by the gale-force storm to hit Midlothian last Thursday.

The winds, which gusted up to 80mph in exposed areas, caused overhead power cables to come down.

Debris, fallen trees and branches added to the power woes felt by local villages.

At 9.30am on Thursday morning 2,000 Scottish Power customers were without electricity across the Lothians.

Various Midlothian communities were affected including Roslin, Rosewell, Pathhead and Gorebridge.
