Make sure you don the lab gear and safety goggles this weekend as it’s full speed ahead for the Midlothian Science Festival.

There will be two special events this weekend– a Big Bang Energy Gala Day on Saturday, and a Science Alive Gala Day on Sunday.

The festival, which concludes on October 20, boasts daily events, exploring everything from a geological ramble to Lego robotics.

Councillor Lisa Beattie, cabinet member with responsibility for arts and creativity said: “The Midlothian Science Festival is a fantastic event for the area and gives the local community a unique opportunity to find out more about science, environment and technology and have a lot of fun too.

“Last year’s event was a great success and judging from this year’s exciting programme, the 2013 festival will be also.”
