The Midlothian Science Festival is celebrating after receiving an additional £12,000 in funding towards new events this year.

A £10,000 award has been made by the Scottish Government towards a food science technology event.

And an additional £2000 has been awarded towards the festival’s involvement in the Great Big Science Read. Both 2014 events will tie in with Homecoming Year.

Science festival chairman Philip Wark said: “The Science Festival is a great success story for Midlothian. I’m delighted to announce that the Scottish Government has recognised our success by awarding Midlothian Science Festival with grant funding to make the 2014 festival even bigger and better.”
