The long running saga of what names to add to Newtongrange War Memorial has come to and end, for now.
Newtongrange Community Council had hoped to add names of local people killed fighting for their country but not on the memorial by last Easter.
After a year’s research, aided by historian John Duncan and Midlothian Council’s Bob Atack, from an original list of 12 names the three names they put forward to the general purposes committee last week were accepted.
The names of George Ross, James Holgate and James Alexander will now be added to the war memorial.
