Council officials have reached a new low in their handling of the situation at Newbyres Crescent according to local MSP Christine Grahame.
With councillors meeting on Tuesday to consider demolishing the street, Ms Grahame (SNP) was reacting to the council’s Facebook post which said: “Staff have been out in Newbyres Cresc and Gore Ave ahead of council meeting 17 June, dealing with CO2 gas risk. Demolition possible.”
Ms Grahame said: “I have been urging the council to keep residents informed about progress by actually going and speaking to them.
“No wonder people are reacting badly when they decide to post such a flippant message via social media.
“One of the residents living there has said on the post that the council has told them nothing and they are gutted.
“It’s a ridiculous state of affairs and I have contacted the council again today to find out what residents are being told.”
