An ambitious partnership between the National Mining Museum in Newtongrange and the Cauldhall Moor opencast mine has been revealed.

Rowan Brown, director at registered charity the National Mining Museum, is excited by the tie-in.

She said: “This exceptional offer will revolutionise the visitor experience at National Mining Museum Scotland.

“For the first time in the charity’s history, we will be a mining museum with a genuine mining experience.

“The partnership will facilitate a re-display of our very dated opencast mining exhibit and will enable us to offer visitors tours of a commercial opencast mine – the first of any such tours led by a museum in the UK.”
