Staff and volunteers at a Penicuik leisure centre are hard at work on a series of fundraising events towards the cost of a defibrillator.

Ladywood Leisure Centre has received a £500 boost from the Penicuik Community Sport Hub towards its appeal.

Before Christmas, the centre raised funds by bag-packing at Tesco.

And on Saturday, March 29 there will be a seventh anniversary open day at the centre when further funds will be raised.

Ladywood manager Iain Ramage said: “We are hoping to get a defibrillator for here.

“We are open seven days a week from 9am to 10pm whereas other places, who might have equipment, may not be so accessible.”
