A Penicuik couple, who were swept off their feet at the ice skating in Glasgow, are celebrating 60 years of happy marriage.
Marie (81), who hails from Springburn, and Denis (86), from Possilpark, met at the Crossmyloof Ice Rink where he was trying to impress as a speed skater.
His efforts succeeded and the couple were eventually married at St Agnes Church, Lambhill, Glasgow, on October 31, 1953 – which was also Denis’s 26th birthday.
The couple have three grandchildren – Charlotte (24), Jamie (15) and Hannah (12). Provost Joe Wallace and Depute Lord Lieutenant Richard Callander presented the couple with their card from The Queen and flowers.
