A Penicuik congregation has been criticised by Midlothian Council for writing supportive letters rallying behind its rector and her family.
Rev Lynsay Downs and her husband Simon are embroilled in a battle with the local authority over the care of their son Conrad (10).
The Downs made the heartbreaking decision in January to tell the council that severely autistic Conrad needed full-time residential care.
However, while Midlothian Council has agreed to put in place “a robust care package”, it says its policy is to keep children in the family home.
