Penicuik looks set to lose its crime prevention panel

Lack of support has been blamed for the expected demise next month of Penicuik and District Crime Prevention Panel.

With three officebearers stepping down and no new bodies on the committee, the panel is likely to fold after its annual general meeting on May 20.

Jack McGowan, who has served as secretary for 10 years and treasurer for two, said the formalities would be carried out at an extraordinary general meeting.

“We are at the stage now where all the officebearers realise they have gone by their sell-by-date and nobody else is coming in,” he said.
