A Midlothian student will be aiming for glory this weekend when he competes at the World Piping Championships in Glasgow.
Having played on the world stage on no less than six previous occasions, Lasswade musician Calum Watson knows all about competing under pressure.
But at Glasgow Green that pressure will be higher than ever when the 19-year-old contests at Grade 1 level for the first time.
Fresh from success at the Killin Highland Games last week, Calum told the Advertiser that he no longer feels nervous playing in public: “I played in front of 10,000 people in Basle last year, and most weekends I’m competing or performing. Playing in front of people is something that I’ve gotten used to.
