Plans by Persimmon Homes to build a further 349 houses in Gorebridge have been welcomed by the growing town’s community council.

The planning application is to build the homes at three sites – two on either side of New Hunterfield, plus extra homes at the existing development beside Arniston Park.

Gorebridge Community Council chairman Eddie Robertson said: “As it stands at the moment we would welcome housing for here as we have a lack of housing. The demand for building homes in Gorebridge is going to increase and, with the railway coming here, we have known this for quite a while.”

This latest application follows plans for 700 homes at nearby Redheugh.
