Using up-to-date technology from within its new base in Bonnyrigg, Midlothian’s ‘talking newspaper’ is now keener than ever to get its voice heard.
Founded by local resident Brian West in 1997, ‘Midlothian News and Views’ records the Advertiser for the benefit of blind and partially-sighted listeners.
A new chapter opened in its history earlier this month, when the small band of volunteers acquired recording space at Lasswade Community Centre and started using modern digital technology.
In order to catch up on local news, service users previously used their own equipment to play cassette tapes which were posted fortnightly by Midlothian News and Views.
Now they are able to plug a memory stick into a readily-supplied USB player.
