Midlothian scientists have been praised by the Princess Royal for their vital work in safeguarding the health and welfare of livestock.

The Princess addressed a conference hosted by the Moredun Foundation and Moredun Research Institute at the Pentlands Science Park last week.

The event focused on the challenges faced when controlling livestock disease in a changing climate, and how collaboration between scientists and governments across the world was important in addressing these issues.

The workshop attracted more than 100 delegates from the agricultural, veterinary and research sectors around the world, and speakers included Professor Louise Heathwaite, Scotland’s Chief Scientific Advisor for Rural Affairs.
