The former butcher's shop, High Street, Penicuik

Penicuik residents have reacted angrily to news that planning consent has been granted for another hot food takeaway in the town centre.

After lying vacant since 2009, change of use was granted on appeal for the former butcher’s shop in the High Street.

Penicuik Community Council chairman Ken Brown told the Advertiser: “Penicuik is rapidly becoming the take-away capital of Midlothian.”
