Midlothian council is paying £3,750 a year for 25 staff parking spaces at Newbattle Golf Club, a Freedom of Information request has revealed.
With a well-documented shortage of parking in Dalkeith and an increasing number of council staff being based in the town, the local authority has also spent £1,294 on preparing 33 spaces on a temporary site at the former Dalkeith High School.
Other sites designated for council parking include Midlothian House (76 spaces) and Fairfield House (31 spaces).
As previously reported in the Advertiser, councillors are at a loss as to how to solve parking chaos from further spiralling out of control.
