An action group is putting more pressure on the government to issue a long-awaited transport report following the third road accident in three months at the same spot.

The Pathhead Road Safety Action Group want the report from Bear Scotland into the roads in and around the village to be released by Transport Scotland following another car hitting a stone plinth on the A68 to Dalkeith last week.

The group’s spokesman Bob Bertram said: “It’s been going on for months and months, we are waiting for the results. I just feel that with the accident the other day we need to put pressure on.

“The time has come for something to be done. I think personally that speed has got something to do with it.

“As soon as the report comes out the interested parties need to get together to see what issues if any need to be looked at.”
