Michael Weir: 300 Hibs fans at Hampden is a travesty - I'd rather watch it in the pub

Hibs fans have missed out on so much already this season, so it's a travesty that there will only be 300 of them inside Hampden Park for next weekend's Scottish Cup final.

When you think how many Hibs supporters would go through for the game in normal circumstances – it would be unbelievable and they would help the team so much.

Imagine Hibs players walking out onto Hampden and seeing the green and white support, it makes such a big difference because you don't want to let them down.

600 in total is not a lot of people for a big place like that. I'd be a lot more confident if they allowed more supporters in because nothing beats it as a player going out there and seeing your whole end fully packed and the atmosphere drives you on.

I could have envisaged a big support going up to Aberdeen on Wednesday night too. Success brings people through the gates and there would have been a huge support at Pittodrie to see Hibs clinch third place. They've missed out on all of that – the fans and the players. They just have to get on with it and hopefully win the cup, then people can party in their own way.

Being honest I don't think I could sit inside Hampden with 300 people for a Scottish Cup final. An occasion like that needs a big atmosphere. I think I'd rather just sit in a pub or wherever it may be, and watch the game. You want to be amongst a big support when the atmosphere grabs you – and we've been there and experienced that before at Hampden. I don't think I could sit amongst 300 people in a 52,000 seater stadium and watch a cup final. It doesn't do anything for me.

I don't think 300 people will make a great difference. Maybe friends and family – I get that – because it's always good to look into the stand and see friends or family in there. I'd be very confident if Hampden was full of Hibs supporters. It would lift the players and the whole club and St Johnstone would have a real problem. But the players are going to have to make their own atmosphere which is not easy to do.
