A Dalkeith woman is hoping to help a ’90s boy band to capitalise on their recent X-Factor appearance – after they sang at her wedding.
Sarah Aikman-Lovatt (27) has organised a concert for Essex boy band Next of Kin at Edinburgh music venue Cabaret Voltaire on January 30.
Superfan Sarah explained why she has booked her idols, whose hits included ‘24 Hours from You’ and ‘More Love’.
She said: “It was costing me a fortune to go down south for gigs so I thought it would be good to get them up here.
“On social media sites everyone has been going on about how they have to come to Scotland.
“Their PA said if I could find a venue they will do it. Then Cabaret Voltaire got back and said it would love to have them perform there. I’m looking forward to it.”
After more than a decade in the pop wilderness Next of Kin made it through to boot camp in this year’s X-Factor. Sarah is keen to build on the renewed interest in the band.
She said: “I’m trying to organise interviews for radio and newspapers when they come up for the gig.
“I’m friends with their PA down in Essex and we have been working together to do what we can to help them get back to the top.
“I want them back on the radio where they belong. It’s definitely picked up now and we are doing whatever we can to make sure it stays that way. Everybody is hearing more about them which is great.”
