Fears for the Dalkeith economy have been expressed after councillors conceded that problem parking is out of control – and about to get much worse.
An alarming report to the full council has raised a number of concerns for the town, while a separate paper highlighted “significant issues” that have arisen since Police Scotland withdrew its traffic warden service in December.
The extent of the problem was best summed up when Councillor Russell Imrie (Lab) commented that the “long overdue” report titled ‘Dalkeith Town Centre Parking Strategy’ contained “hee haw” in the way of an action plan.
